INSPIRATION
Every December my mom and I would make mountains of Biscochitos to give as gifts everywhere our family visited for the holidays. These candles are infused with Spanish anise just like my mom taught me to make the cookies.
The New Mexico Legislature adopted the biscochito as the official state cookie in 1989. This act made New Mexico the first state to have an official state cookie. The biscochito is a small anise-flavored cookie, which was brought to New Mexico by the early Spaniards.
