Fragrance Notes: Sage + Leather + Calla Lilies
When I started college at UNM, I bought two Santa Fe Opera posters featuring Georgia O'Keeffe's art to hang in my room. They were so beautiful, but I realized I needed to protect them and have them framed, and that cost me $50 each, which was a lot of money to me. I still have those posters in their original frames, and they have moved with me to two states, and countless apartments and houses. I love them still.
Ms. O'Keeffe was more than just a painter, she epitomized a truly creative, independent woman. New Mexico has always thrived as a matriarchal society with our mothers, grandmothers, and great-grandmothers breaking barriers both creatively and politically, long before other parts of the country, so Ms. O'Keefe fit right in. A true inspiration to women throughout New Mexico.
"I've been absolutely terrified every moment of my life and I've never let it keep me from a single thing that I wanted to do." Georgia O'Keeffe
I am humbled by the extraordinary artwork created for this candle label by award-winning local artist, Amy M. Ditto.
Amy's process is a fusion of original photography and digital techniques to create playful, iconic images from the imagination. Her bold, vibrant, fantastical, and undeniably fun mixed digital media collages evoke a sense of wonder and irreverence. I have loved her Flowers & Skulls Collection for a very long time and I knew that no other artist could create the label for this very special candle, other than Amy.
The art for this candle label can be purchased at her Ghostwolf Gallery in Old Town, Albuquerque, or on her website. Amy is a truly unique and original artist, much like Ms. O'Keeffe. Thank you Amy M. Ditto, for such an incredibly beautiful piece of art for our O'Keeffe candle.
